Tdlr: she wants to buy a dog I dislike and doesnt like my response of not wanting to ever live with that kind of dog. We are likely breaking up over it.
Been dating said girl (27F) for about 6 months after we had dated previously for year and broke up. Anyway she and I (27M) have been throwing the idea of moving in together in the next year or two. Keeping in mind I own a large German shepherd so we are limited in options for renting. Shes impatient in the buying idea (I am unsure if id wanna own a home with her aswell). So now shes on this kick of getting a specific breed of dog that I dont like at all, its prone for skin disease/infections, terrible breathing, and a huge list of major health issues. Its heart could blow up from moving too much. She didnt consult with me at all and put a deposit down. I had stated from the very first mentiom that I am absolutely not okay with this. Making it clear its a huge responsibility and that I would inevitably be responsible for it. I want kids in about 3-5 years so I dont wanna add another dog into the mix. She already has two cats. She did have a dog between us bring apart and getting back together but it died like 2 weeks after we started dating again from seizures. So now I have absolutely put my foot down and told her I will not live with that kind of dog and that I don’t believe a dog is a good idea at all. Her compromise is that she gets her way and I have my dog. Thats not a compromise. Now theres no solution to this argument and she wants to have an in person talk. I think its over. I think we are incompatible.
